has it been a month yet????

It seems I usually post just once a month.......but I seem to be a little early this time.
Oh well......wanted to post a picture of the newest Tag I am in. It is called Dish Rag Tag the Sequel...there are teams of 12 all around the US knitting and sending packages as I type. I am have the fun of being with the RagOlympians. The box has come and gone from my house ....but look what I got......
The cloth was knitted by Tammie from KS and she added just the right notions that I needed to fill my gadget bag for traveling.....the cloth is such a pretty color and she has a good hand for knitting. The box is somewhere on the way to MI right now and the lady there has her hubby on the watch for the mailman. This is proving to be more fun than I thought.... will let you know if we are the fastest team when it is over.......

Meantime .........I have been knitting things that just make me happy. The LSSK gals are knitting for the Special Olympics in 2009. We are knitting or crocheting scarves for some of the athelics. This too is something that crafters from all over are helping with. I have knitted two ......

Then my best bud Vicki let me know about this new yarn.....it GLOWS in the dark........so of course I had to try it.....
this will be for Journey and I need to cast on for the next Grand-daughter that is heading our way. Haven't tried to take a picture of it glowing......but it really does!!

I finished up the newest of my VA Knitting carry alongs.....it my version of My So Called Scarf pattern......
I used Red Heart TLC Essentials in the Falling Leaves color way.....I am more than pleased about the way the color fell into place.

Way behind.......as usual.....

I do have an excuse though......we took a couple of weeks and went to Minnesota to visit with family and attend the hubby's 50 Year High School Reunion!! Had so much fun. The weather was lovely....everything was green.....it was cool.....AND.....there was rain!!

....this is my SIL Mary Lou's back yard.....I know!!!....it looks like a Park!!! We sat on her deck every morning ....I knitted and enjoyed every minute of it.....

Have been trying to catch up on all that was left behind. I had a couple of "Special Orders" for Always Alice. This is always fun and a real good feeling to know that there are others out there that like my work.....made bags.....needle rolls.....gadget bags......and sock or one-project bags....

Was an unusual fabric choice to me.....but a knitting buddy explained that it is tiles for a game....and that is how her Mother taught her the Spanish language.

Then there is the Olympics....while the games are progressing Ravelry and LSSK are having games of their own. I signed in for

WIP Wrestling ... a Mystery Shawl started in 2007

...Baby Dressage... cute pattern from Keri Williams of Kiwicanuck Knits

..and Dishcloth Dash...... by Lisa Millan of Digknitty Designs

Have managed to finish my projects and been working on a few others.

As you can see my cloth basket is holding 3 Mid-Month KALs.......

For the Llympic participants I offered stitchmarkers to the LSSK group and hubby has been helping....

......gotta love a guy that volunteers........

and not to be out done.......my Sea Bee and DIL brought this.....

With all this food maybe I should take up golf????..........nah..........Hubby found some new perfume..to go along with the cart....the Kid brought amusing things for my desk.......friends and family were sending wishes and cards from all over.........so this has and is still a GREAT Birthday Month!!

I really have been knitting.....

I have been knitting on quick knits for family.

I knit this version of the Pidge.....I used Lion Brand Jiffy in the Rose Paint color...worked this up with size 13 needles thinking it would be just a tad softer with such a thick fabric stitch pattern.....I followed the pattern found here....
http://knitting101.blogspot.com/2007/10/my-so-called-pidge.html

Really like the way it worked up and plan on making a cap to go with it.....the color was chosen because my DIL will be riding on this soon.........and it needed to match........ ... in the winter a regular scarf would just get in the way. Not sure if she has a name yet.......I call her "Piglett".......soon she will be riding with the "Hoggs"....

This scarf was gifted yarn from a LSSK gal pal......it is a Filatura Di Crosa yarn of mohair....I only had one skein so just did the Mistake Rib until I ran out......with all those little loops though I had to keep count of the 11 stitches on each row ....

Not sure if it is going to live with me or visit 'the basket' until someone in the family finds it and loves it enough to take home....used the size 13 needles again and it really worked up soft.

Can't seem to get back in the hang of working on the shawl that should have been a Christmas present for the DIL in AZ.....but with rumor of them coming for a visit next month.......well.....I will find a way ......

behind again.....

Have had lots of things happening lately so maybe should catch up........

Had a wonderful weekend in Wimberley with the LSSK gals......so much fun.....catching up with friends and seeing things they were all working on ......now to plan for next year!!

I have made a couple of bags to send to Strings and Things. Have a couple of more cut out and even an order or two to work on......so things are looking up...

Go on with your knittin'

Go On With Your Knittin'
(Unknown Irish Poet)

When the folks next to you act like those in the zoo
A grumblin', growlin' and spittin'
It's a pretty good plan
To be as calm as you can
And do something useful?
like knittin'.

When a gossipin' Susan with poison barbed tongue
Comes into the room where you're sittin'
And starts to defame
Some neighbor's good name
Count your stitches out loud and keep knittin'.

When there's been a slight misunderstandin' at the church
And others hint broadly of quittin'
Why the very best thing
You can do is to sing
And stay at your post and keep knittin'.

When Satan moves in with his cohorts of sin
Say, "You'll never find me submitin'.
You irk me I find
So get thee behind
And please don't disturb me?
I'M KNITTIN!"

In the middle of problems, the big and the smal
lIt's always proper and fittin'
To trust and to pray
Til the Lord shows the way
An' go right on ahead with your knittin'.

running a little behind

I have been working on stitch markers and bags.......but found time to knit just a little.

Finished up the Lavish Lace Bookmark.........

worked up in a Senso wool blend ....not the easiest of yarns to work with on tiny needles.

Also made up a Farmer's Market Bag.....now this one I really enjoyed.....used Red Heart Cotton ......the pattern worked up fast too!

Finishing Up

I have had the itch to Cast On something all day.......So instead I took a few pictures of some little things I finished up last night.

This is Bubbles....he is a little dishcloth from a pattern found here on the net

http://knitalittlemore.blogspot.com/2008/03/introducing-bubbles_11.html

Only thing I did different was to add a button for the eye. My DIL came up with this idea....said when she was washing dishes the button saved her nails when 'scratching off that little stubborn spot'........and Bubbles did need an eye.

Next I finished up a washable Swifter Pad ....designed by a knitting friend Birdy of "Birdy Knits"

Birdy has designed some beautiful scarves and other lacey things......well worth the time of checking out her site.

http://www.birdysknits.com/

And finally here is my newest Knitting Buddy.....Alan Dart's version of Shaun the Sheep. He currently resides on the little vase that holds my 'needed' knitting accessories.... isn't he cute?Shaun just makes me smile......

Test Knitting

Are you one that loves a good mystery? I do and I believe that is why I enjoy the Mystery KALs that are found on the internet. This is probably why I also like doing test knittng. I find it a challange when I get a pattern in a rough form and get to knit it into something to enjoy.

I just finished knitting up mittens for someone that happened to meet here on the WWW ......was the first time I have knitted from a chart into a 3 dimensional objet.....I think I turned out pretty well.

I really have been busy...

I have been knitting......well.....a little.... Have finished and getting ready to mail out this Ribbed Lace Bolero that I found here....

......gotta love knitters that share..... I knitted this one with Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece and it was a joy to work up.

I have also been sewing.....or test sewing .....I am attempting to make "a small project bag".....something a little different than just a drawstring type bag.....

New Month...New Stuff

I have started drawing off patterns for knitting bags....Have several fabrics matched up now to find the zippers and little things that help to make the bags special.

Also have been working on stitch markers. These really are fun to make.....love working with the beautiful beads. Just fun things to "dress up" your knitting while working on a project.

It is sorta a begining......

Today we sewed!!! Not on knitting type things....but we sewed. Had to raid my hubby's tool box to begin the designing though. A golfing buddy asked if I could make a tool roll. And of course the hubby says YES. The way I look at it......tool roll.....knitting needle roll.....not too much difference.

A New Start

So now that the working part of my house is ready I will be designing and sewing knitting things for a friend that is starting a business. I will post pictures of completed things as they are finished here. Who knows???? This could be the beginning of something GREAT!
