Yesterday.....

I took the day off and drove to Austin to have lunch with my friends......met Nikki, Vicki, and Linda. We sat there for a couple of hours over lunch and caught up on most everything. What a great way to spend a day!! Of course none of us had a camera.......so you will just have to take our word for it.....FUN!!!

Now for some exciting news........

I have been known to test knit for a few designers.....so when Jean Townsend asked for testers I rushed to sign up.....I have done one of her's in the past so I knew it would turn out beautiful......so here is my version of her newest (?) shawl pattern.....
I used Red Heart Luster Sheen ....according to my scales.....15 3/8ounces worth. With a size 5 needle it came out to a 46 inche square.

Now I have been known to give away most if not all of what I knit.....but the verdict is still out on this one. It may just have to stay with me. Thanks for trusting me with the design Jean!!

opps.......

I was catching up with the family reading their blogs........whatever did we do before???..........When it occurred to me that I hadn't finished the pictures of the Fence Building........so........

Here is a shot of the gate building from my window upstairs....

then I decided I needed to really go down and take some better ones......
this is what divides our yards......nice...pretty....and new!!
Then it was break time.....
Back to work on the gate for the other side....

Why didn't we start on this side before starting that gate??? ...back to business...

Looking good now.......
....but who's the Boss??
.......No......No........This is a Partnership!!
...you missed a spot...
OK....enough fooling around......back to work......
...and they are done.......

The whole thing took them 3 days........and the Neighbor is pleased .......But I am thinking they won't be saying "Oh we can do that!".......not for awhile anyway............

looking good........

Yesterday the Sea Bee and Retired Army were hard at it again.......

The dogs were not as impressed as I was with their work.

There was even a little "horse play" going on.......

Then a HUGE SURPRISE happened later!!!.....

My good friend Jan and her hubby Wayne stopped by......Seems Jan had to take some schooling for work in San Marcus so since Cove was "on the way home" in a round about way......
I have known Jan since my working days at Winn Dixie in Stephenville.....we became fast friends ...she helped me through some very tough times then stood for me at the wedding........ Was good to sit and catchup on everyone and just sit and laugh.....We really should do it more often!!

Learn something everyday....

Today .....the Sea Bee and my Hubby have learned that fence building probably isn't something they want to do for 'a livin'.......

Our neighbor to the North of us has been trying to hire someone to replace his fence for several months now.......so Sea Bee and Retired Army to the rescue!!!

They got the fence down fine.....the neighbor even helped load it on the trailer.....

Then the "removing of the 4X4" began.....

all went pretty fine until that ONE......you know......the one right before the last one????......well......they were pulling and tugging then using the post lifter (has a technical name but I don't know it) and that is when it happened!! It snapped right at ground level.....I heard a 'crack'...turned and saw the Sea Bee heading one direction and the hubby falling and falling and falling.......the upper half cracked him in the head and knocked him down to the ground!! But being Retired Army .....he hopped right up and said a few words to the offending board then looked to see who saw!! Tonight there isn't a burse.....and no swelling.......
They went ahead and "set" the posts.......then called it a day........tomorrow??? Well.....I am sure there will be more to tell.............

Sick and Tired.....

I somehow managed to catch a "bugg" last week.....we are blaming it on "the Carrier" aka Richard. He was sick first and I really thought I had snuck by...but after the denist trip with the Sea Bee I started getting a runny nose.....scratchy eyes......headache......body ache.......and just tired.......so now that the week has come and gone I seem to be almost back to normal.....or what I happen to live as Normal.

Just because I was down didn't mean I wasn't knitting though......I managed to finish up a little something for 'the basket'......

... 'the basket' is just that.....a basket that lives in my living room. Whenever the notion hits me and I want to try something different .....whether it is the design......the yarn....the stitch pattern......or just something new to try........I use 'the basket' as my excuse to do it. When family come to visit they know that they have 'the basket' to go through....just incase there is something that needs to follow them home. Well....I had noticed that 'the basket' was short of baby things......so when I came across this pattern I knew I needed to try it ........

and it needed a hat!!!

I used Simply Soft Yarn for both and found a nice little wooden button to finish it off.

This is a good basic pattern that will work up in all sorts of fun colorways in the future. Just the type of pattern I love to come back to......just enough interest to keep me going and still so very simple to follow.
